Monica Friends of mine will be visiting from SC. Haven't seen them in years. Planning to go out to dinner one night to celebrate my birthday and catch up on old times. Looking for a special place. Haven't dined at the Tasting room or Daniel's for dinner. Would love your suggestions for a special place with excellent food... unless one of these two would fit the bill.

@Monica The Tasting Room is good, but it gets so loud in there you can't hear yourself think, let alone hear your friends. I'm not sold on Danielle's. I think it was better as Tauraso's. Do you want to stay downtown? Monocacy Crossing has excellent food. Gabriel's is quiet and leisurely and has good food as well. Downtown, how about VOLT? Isabella's is fun. I've heard great things about The Cellar Door too and can't wait to try it! Just saw a pic of it in Fred Mag and it looks great!

@Liz Thanks Liz about the noise level at the TR. We definitely want to be able to talk since they are in town just 2 nights. Never been to M Crossing, will check their menu out. Gabriel's used to be a favorite until we were treated rudely one new years eve evening. Won't return there. Maybe the Cellar Door. Been wanting to go there. Brown Pelican used to be my favorite. I may also check the Buckey'stown Inn. Thanks for your suggestions.

@Liz I haven't been to Acacia for dinner in a long time. Have you been there? Any good?

@Monica We used to go there all the time but I'm not crazy about the fusion menu. Truthfully though, I think it's been about 3 years since we've been there.

@Monica Just checked out Acacia's menu and it looks pretty good. Still not crazy about the fusion style but the menu looks a bit more diverse than the last time we went there.

@Liz The last time we went to Acacia (probably a year or two ago) it was really good. There is no good reason why we have not been back, just haven't had a chance.

@Guy Thanks Liz and Guy, I'll check the menu out. My husband wasn't thrilled the last time we went for dinner but that must have been 4-5 years ago. One option is Tuscarora Mill in Lessburg. Been there for lunch but not dinner.

@Monica If you are still looking for a place, Monocacy Crossing is a great restaurant. A bit $$$, but excellent food.
